Where the Wild Sings is inspired by my fascination with colourful birds and the sense of freedom and character they seem to carry with them. There is something wonderfully expressive about birds, their vivid colours and their curious personalities. I wanted to capture some of that spirit while allowing the painting to remain playful, loose and contemporary.

For this painting, I wanted the bird to be the clear heart of the artwork. The bold blue area behind the bird creates a feeling of open sky, representing the freedom all parrots should feel. While the warm ochre and terracotta tones add an earthy contrast and bring warmth to the composition.

Created entirely by hand, this is a one-of-a-kind original artwork. This artwork will never be recreated, however Kate Roylance Art reserves the right to use this piece in prints, unless otherwise specified with the buyer.
